Maui - take one

Our first stop on the boat was the island of Maui. Because we were coming back here for a week after the cruise, we didn't rush off on the first day. On our second day at port, we did get off and rented a car to do some sightseeing with the rest of Miles' family. We ventured out the Hana Hwy and went to 'Twin Falls'... it had rained the night before, so it was really muddy and the falls looked kind of dirty but were beautiful nonetheless!

We got some yummy fresh fruit smoothies here

Checking out some hemp jewellery

... and some local weaving talent

The first fall we came to

Ethan in a tree (shocking I know!)

Cole was determined to catch a ride any way he could... with grandpa

... with daddy

... with Kiara

.... with mommy

... making him walk for a bit :)

another fall

the troops going for a hike

DANGER - DO NOT CROSS STREAM (due to the heavy rain the night before)

However... Murray checked it out (since tons of people were on the other side) and deemed it safe to cross

One the 'other side' we got to hang out with a chamelian for a bit

... a new fashion statement (as he went from person to person, it was neat to see his colour changing from green to yellow!)

Waiting to see if we will cross more water (opted not to for safety reasons)

The last fall we got to - I think there was another one but we'll have to look for it on another trip :)

big & little cousins :)

Miles, Brendan & Kiara

water fun...

The HANA HWY is the most narrow windy road that I think I've ever been on - there were switchbacks like you wouldn't belive! INSANE :) There are over 600 turns and 54+ narrow one-lane bridges... we didn't go all the way down the hwy on this trip but when we returned the next week, we were definitely up for the adventure!!!!

taking time to watch the waves :)

Paia was a neat little town that we had to drive through a few times - I wish we had spent a bit more time there but we did eat lunch at a little fish market, got coffee (at Anthony's) and browsed a couple shops...

Cole thoroughly enjoying some clam chowder at the fish market !
